Buckram. Condition: Poor. Needing a little TLC, this small book of 1872 has blind stamped buckram boards with gilt title to front. The spine/hinge has split which means that pages 2 and 3 are detached from the rest of the block and rear hinge is tender. The block is browned but there are some great local adverts to the rear.

SIGNED BY AUTHOR with dedication ' For. as a token of the gratitude for his kindest inspiration to the author' to dedication page. A Fine copy with near Fine dustjacket. The author has combined a life of scholarship and pastoral service with a life of…adventure and action. After attending St. Dunstan's College, he had a season on a Norwegian whaler sailing in the Arctic, then joined the Mission to Seamen in Rotterdam, before being posted to Dunkirk. He became a curate and in 1939, when war began, he was commissioned as an army chaplain, serving in France, returning disabled and receiving the 'King's Badge'. From 1947-1970 he was rector of St. Mary's, Barcombe, Lewes, East Sussex. A useful and brightly written work that clarifies what Christians really do believe. R4 Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
