Die jeweils vier Blätter liessen sich zu je einer lebensgroßen Figur von ca. 180 cm Größe montieren und ergeben so jeweils eine imposante anatomische Schautafel. Diese Tafel fehlen in fast allen mir bekannten Exemplaren, entweder wurden sie zu Wandtafeln montiert, bzw. wurden sie nur auf extra Bestellung beim Verlag ausgeliefert. 2. Abth.: Supplement Tafeln: 40 die einzelnen Theile in natürlicher Größe und Lage zeigende Tafeln. Moritz Ignaz Weber (1795-1875) war Prosektor in Bonn, wurde 1825 zum a.o. Professor der Anatomie und 1830 zum ord. Prof. der vergleichenden und pathologischen Anatomie ernannt. Weber hat sich zeitlebens dem Bereich der Anatomie und seinen angrenzenden Wissenschaften zugewandt und eine Fülle von Veröffentlichungen auf dem genannten Gebiet hervorgebracht. Das vorliegende Werk gehört zu seinen bekanntesten Veröffentlichungen und wurde auch ins Französische und Englische übersetzt. Wenn von großen anatomischen Werken des vergangenen Jahrhunderts die Rede ist, so zählt der Weber'sche Atlas sowohl inhaltlich als auch drucktechnisch zu den Meisterleistungen der anatomischen Abbildungen der neueren Zeit. Die Lithographie hat ihren hohen Stellenwert eingenommen, wie auch die großen Werke von Oesterreicher, Tiedemann, Gurt, Feigel u.a. beweisen, die ja alle in der ersten Hälfte des 19.
