Felix Summerly was the pseudonym of Sir Henry Cole who initiated the Home Treasury series in 1843 for the enjoyment of children. The collected edition reproduced in this facsimile series has delicately hand-coloured plates, engraved on wood. This book shows the trend from fact toward fancy in content and design that was to grow through the second half of the 19th century. (One of a set of 35 handsome facsimiles in 28 slipcases.).
