Harlan of Philadelphia with his nake in pencil to the half title pages and business card laid in. Hirschberg 1264(3).Louis de Wecker (1832-1906) was a famous French ophthalmologist and was considered one of the greatest ophthalmologists of his time with worldwide reputation, who introduced many innovative surgical techniques. Dr. George C. Harlan was an accomplished Philadephia ophthalmologist. During the civil war he was a major and surgeon in the Eleventh Pennsylvania Cavalry and was captured and sent to Libby prison in Richmond, Virginia.
