XVI, 520 S., VI, 577 S., Orig.-Halblederbände. - Von: Feurigen Köpfen; Geisteskrankheiten, Krankheiten des Gemüthes, usw. - Melchior Adam Weikard (1742 in Römershag - 1803 in Brückenau) war Arzt und Philosoph. Er war Anhänger der Assoziationspsychologie und der Theorien des schottischen Mediziners John Brown. 1784 erfolgte seine Berufung als Leib- und Hofarzt der russischen Zarin Katharina II. am Zarenhof in St. Petersburg. Von 1791 bis 1792 stand er als Leibarzt im Dienst des Fürstbischofs Karl Theodor von Dalberg in Mainz, nach dem Ausscheiden praktizierte er bis 1794 in Mannheim, danach in Heilbronn, wo er als Wunderarzt galt. Einbandrücken etwas beschädigt. Spuren von Wurmfraß an den Deckeln. Innen stellenweise geringfügig fleckig, sonst innen wohlerhalten und sauber. de Band: 0.

In der Art von Zimmermann gehaltene Reflektionen, mit dem den Verfasser auch die Tatsache verbindet, dass er von der Zarin den Ruf als Hofarzt nach St. Petersburg erhielt. Seine Themen lesen sich wie ein Katalog der psychischen und physischen Befindlichkeiten einer gelangweilten aristokratischen Oberschicht: Vom Begreifen, Von dem Baue der Empfindungsfasern, Von der Zeugung, Vom Selbstmorde, Von der langen Weile, Phantasie, Vom Geiste, Von den Leidenschaften, Vom Heldenmuthe etc. Der zweite Band über die Geisteskrankheiten und die Krankheiten des Gemüthes. - Mit gestochenem Exlibris des Bonner Arztes Jean Henry Crevelt und handschriftlichem Besitzvermerk des Bonner Pfarrer Franz Xaver Lohé. - Erster Band mit schmalem Wasserrand im oberen Seitenrand und S. 410-520 mit Mäusefrass an der unteren Ecke mit kleinem Textverlust.
