This comprises four manuscript sketchbooks in a slipcase, containing several hundred sketches and designsmost in pencil, some in water colour. The sketchbooks are in contemporary cloth backed marble boards. Includes architectural and engineering studies as well as a number of ironwork and domestic and agricultural implements. These date from the earlier part of Weissenborn's life in Germany. He spent the first half of his life in Leipzig the second half in London. Later in life he had published a fine range of wood-engravings by the Whittington Press as well as undertaking painting and other art works. He had a notable career as artist, printmaker, teacher and publisher. A superb archive of sketches. All contained with a stout cloth covered slipcase.
