A better than "reading copy", about "good only" Our latest punching bag: to explicate its subtitle --A Popular Study of the Question-- the question in question was put the author by a Japanese physician, "Why do you European men treat and regard your women with such respect" (p.2 of introduction) and specified in due order (p.5), to ask why "the white man" ("tall, slender figure, long legs, especiallly the tibia, blue eyes" &c &c) so "etherializes" women, "in contradistinction to all other races on earth". The author identifies The Roman Empire as the seedbed of this tendency. Boyd in his foreword compares the "disintegration" of "Man" (contemporary white guys) to "the dismemberment of the Austro-Hungarian Empire by the Allied statesmen" (p.xv).
