Sinister Among Us, A Mystery Novel, is a gripping narrative of intrigue, crime, and sinister activities at a small Christian college in the rural Indiana town of Copperville. The…main charter of the book is Dr. Bradley Green, the Interim President at Cyprus College. The mystery of this book is Green's search to find who or what is causing the sinister things that are happening at Cyprus College. The sinister things include, but are not limited to: male faculty members giving higher grades to female students in return for sex; faculty members selling drugs on campus; the residence hall director making prostitutes of young female students fresh off the farm and living on campus; flying people across state lines for sex and gambling; money disappearing from the college's scholarship fund; holding faculty meetings that are not legally called, in hopes of dismissing Green; the financial office withholding taxes from the paychecks of employees, but keeping the withheld tax money for the college to spend instead of paying the taxes to the government; and the disappearance of the College's Governing Board Chairman. The key to solving the mystery is a real a key, an honest-to-goodness key-to a safe deposit box in a bank. But there is no indication on the key at what bank, or the safe deposit box number, and no one at the college knows anything about the key. By an incident someone else initiates, Green finds where the bank is that has the safe deposit box that the key fits. And the contents of the safe deposit box help Green solve the mystery. The contents of the box also reveal how Copperville got its name, as well as how Cyprus College has a name related to an island in the Mediterranean Sea.

Trade Paperback. Condition: Like New. Copyright © 1997. 346 + xv pp. An excellent, spotlessly clean copy! Clean, fresh, sharp, tight, essentially flawless copy with crisp pages and clean text. Synopsis: George Grant's mystique as a public philosopher is due in part to the seemingly contradictory political stances he took through… the years. His opposition to the Vietnam war and his linking of liberalism with technological progress and imperialism brought him favour among the political left during the 1960s. Then, in the following decade, his opposition to abortion earned him allies on the political right, despite his rejection of limitless capitalist growth and free trade with the US. This collection of original essays reveals the complex philosophic, artistic, and religious sources underlying Grant's public positions of nationalism, pacifism, and conservatism. The collection begins with Grant's previously unpublished writing on CTline. This is a bold and vigorous Grant, writing on a topic about which he is passionate and deeply informed. Grant's own work is followed by two pieces that explore his devotion to CTline. Nietzsche, Heidegger, Weil, and Strauss also receive special attention here. Many of the essays draw on manuscripts and notes left unpublished by Grant, thus contributing new perspectives to the ongoing discussion of his work. The focus of this book is the unknown George Grant, namely, the philosophic, religious, and artistic inspiration behind his well-known public positions. Here we discover the great modern thinkers who animated Grant, and whose writings occupied him for much of his life.
