Condition: Bueno. 425 1973. Libro.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the lunar surface and compares it to volcanic features found in Hawaii. The contrasting terrains of Earth and our nearest celestial neighbor have long puzzled scientists. The author, an astronomer who has studied the moon for decades, reveals the striking similaritie…s between volcanic formations on both bodies through breathtaking lunar and Hawaiian photographs. The book places a particular focus on the intriguing parallels between Kilauea and the lunar maria, examining the forces that created them. The author argues that studying the Hawaiian formations gives us a unique opportunity to understand the processes that shaped the moon billions of years ago. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Good. PICKERING, William H. "The Colors of the Stars and Planets, Part I", pp 421-427, volume 25 number 7, August-September 1917, published in Northfield, MN, by the Goodsell observatory. Good condition. Also in this issue: Johannsen, N. "The Birth of a Planet", and Vincent Francis, "Is Our Earth the Only…Life Supporting Body in the Universe?" (in which the author for the most part addresses our solar system, and although he doesn't seem t care for the idea of life on Mars admits that it is the best candidate for extraterrestrial life nearby). This is the whole issue for February 1917, extracted from a larger bound volume. This comes with the front (though not rear) wrapper, which is evidently uncommon.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is an early 20th-century study of the Moon, concentrating on topics that were not well understood prior to its publication. The author used high-altitude observations to create a detailed summary of the lunar landscape, including the first description of lunar canals and the…volcanic activity of the Aristarchus crater. It was one of the earliest studies to correctly describe the lunar surface's origins, and helped change the scientific understanding of the Moon from a static celestial body to an ever-changing neighbor to the Earth. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
