Bound in original maroon cloth, gilt decorated by blind stamping and gilt blocks, now almost worn away. All edges gilt. Extremities worn and scattered foxing, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by wood engravings, including frontispiece. Decorated by title page and head and tailpiece vignettes and by initials. Collected edition of a work issued in seven parts. There is an emphasis on providing suitable aviaries for the different species, reflecting the Victorian desire to cage their song birds.
