A speech by Wilson McCandless welcoming John Quincy Adams to Pittsburgh, reflecting on Adams' career and service to the country. With a short speech by Adams responding in thanks. POOR condition. Rear wrapper missing. Piece is very tenuously holding together, with some pages loose, and the front cover barely attached to the rest. Horizontal and vertical fold creases present, with heavy creasing and wrinkling. Moderate to heavy dark scuffing and soiling, with some staining, including heavy ink stains to the front wrapper. . Chipping and tearing along the extremities, especially to the front wrap. Overall very heavy wear.

He worked mostly with the Vancouver Drug Squad, but also did stints on the prairies ans in the R.C.M.P. navy (against rum-running). This is his career BIOG. The work was in progress at Wilson's death in 1979 and so the last 6 pages (180 total) were written by Jack Fossum. 8 pages of reproduced newspaper clippings at center. McCandless drawings decorate chapter heads. Cond: White paper wrapper with a silhouette graphic of an RCMP officer and a criminal. General wear at all points, edges better,spine fine. NO names, marks, tears, creases, folds NOR scratches. Clean, tight in binding. Almost giftable !! Quote (p. 50) : " .the Coroner and the Hangman. The latter, who like all Canadian hangmen before and since went by the name of Ellis, was a small, wiry man, brisk and dapper. Of the little group in the . ." Size: 8vo.
