INTERLINGUE Omaggio del Banco di Sicilia, volume rilegato che al suo interno riproduce fedelmente l'opera originale edita a Londra nel 1823, una copia della "Fondazione Mormino" dell'Istituto stesso, edizione trilingue inglese/francese/italiano, quest'ultima la troiamo stampata a parte in un sottile volumetto brossurato con copertina artigianale in cartoncino muto nero. Legatura in cartonato simil-pelle con cornici dorate ai piatti e impressioni in oro anche al dorso, spugnati oro anche i tagli. Deboli muffe sparse all'interno, testo pienamente fruibili, arricchito da incisioni acquarellate su disegni di P. de Wint da bozzetti originali di Major Light, tonalità ingiallite dal tempo. Opera contenuta in custodia semimorbida senza titoli, mancante anche la data d' edizione. Ex Libris lievemente danneggiato e escoriazione al contropiatto anteriore, abrasione anche a quello posteriore. Pagine non numerate.

The Original Sketches of Major Light LIGHT, William] (Adelaide, SA, Australia) Bookseller Rating: : London, Rodwell & Martin, 1823, 1823.Tall well margined Quarto, unpaginated but comprising a frontispiece vignette ('Sicilian Cottage'), an engraved title page with a vignette ('Crater of Mount Etna'; verso blank), 60 full-page plates (versos blank), each with a leaf of descriptive text (English on one side, the French translation on the verso) and a tissue-guard, and 3 index pages. Contemporary full black morocco extensively gilt- and blind-decorated, all edges gilt; leather a little rubbed at the extremities, with minor wear to the corners; minimal foxing and some offsetting (confined mainly to the tissue-guards); an excellent copy with the ownership signatures of J. Woodhouse (Brasenose College, 1839) and E. Angas Johnson on the front endpaper. William Light (1786-1839), soldier and artist. His original sketches of Sicily were augmented by De Wint and then engraved on aquatint. with the original tissue guards, upper margin of some leaves light stains, not affecting plates, the engravings are clean and quite vivid under their original protection. Note the binding is 19th century and period, there is rubbing and chipping minor to binding and the binding is slightly cocked, else vg. Scenes from Italian life vividly drawn, gilt raised bands on spine, superb Italian stone marbled boards and endsheets period.

Bella legatura in marocchino verde coevo, dorso a cinque nervi con ricchi fregi al dorso, titoli impressi, riquadri ai piati in oro, dentelle e tagli dorati. Classica opera ottocentesca sulla splendida Sicilia, molto conosciuta. Le belle e amene vedute raffigurano tutte le localit? pi? conosciute dell'isola. Bell'esemplare marginoso, con qualche leggera fioritura della carta al frontespizio e a poche altre pagine e tavole. Qualche traccia di usura agli spigoli della legatura e alle cerniere.
