The new Graphics Wing at Louisiana has been called ôThe Hidden Museum,ö because its buildings are subordinate to the landscape, thereby not detracting from the surroundings or the art it houses. J°rgen Bo and Claus and Vilhelm Wohlert are the able architects of this project. Vibeke Holscher and Lea N°rgaard are the landscape architects on this project. Presented here are photographs of the elegant new graphics wing, as well as some of its collection, which includes work by Carl-Henning Pedersen, Pierre Alechinsky, Asger Jorn, Per Kirkeby, Chuck Close, Cindy Sherman, Sam Francis and Robert Rauschenberg., Danish/ English summary, Year1991, Illust. Printed on handmade paper, written and laid-out by the architect himself, this book provides a living document of the architectÆs style and work process on nine projects, covered in text and illustrations selected by the architect. Wohlert, Kaare KlintÆs favorite student, has a mastery of both self-disciplined reserve and highly personal representations in his architectural expressions. Projects include Workshop School in Tunisia, the National Museum in Kabul, a pavilion in Sussex, the Technical Institute near Copenhagen, churches and residences., English, Year1987, Illust. Paperback. Condition: Very good(+). Private Edition. 1 quarto volume with brown and white pictorial self-wraps; (unpaged): illustrations (some color), plans; 29 cm. No. 99 of a 1,200 copy print run, as stated on colophon, which also includes a possibe signature (see photo). Elegant binding with handmade paper, sketches and photographs. "The main purpose of the private edition is to let the architect, with his own words and through sketches and drawings, give an account of the difficult and often laborious course from first proposal to final result. Thus an architect's sketch design is not to be considered as a self-contained work of art but as a means of clarifying an architectural idea." --Preface by Anders Nyborg. ? Vilhelm Wohlert was a Danish modernist whose work melded structural clarity with a quiet, almost monastic sense of place. Trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and shaped by early collaborations with Kaare Klint, he matured into a designer who treated light, proportion, and material as interdependent elements rather than decorative layers. His most celebrated achievement?the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art at Humleb?k, conceived with J?rgen Bo?became a paradigm of Scandinavian museological architecture: a low, elongated sequence of pavilions that glide across the landscape, drawing nature into the experience of art through glass, timber, and understated geometries. Across his broader oeuvre, including churches, university buildings, and sensitive reconstructions, he cultivated the same disciplined restraint, aiming always for spaces that feel inevitable, serene, and tuned to human scale.| Architects -- Denmark. Architecture, Modern -- 20th century. Mild bump to head of spine. Very mild rubbing to bottom edge and outer corners of covers. Spine is very mildly rolled. Pages and covers clean. Very good(+).
