In the present edition, alterations have been made at many places throughout the book with the intention both of incorporating some of the new work of the past few years and of remedying some deficiences in the former one to which my attention has been drawn. Furthermore, two major additions have been made in the form of two fresh chapters. The first deals with the basic features of hypersensitivy reactions in so far as these bear on general pathological processes. The second is concerned again on a general explanatory level, with the cell and tissue changes which are brought about by the ionizing raditiations. Illustrated.
