Part of the series: Sifriyah li-yedi'at Erets-Yisrael shel ha-hevrah ha-Ivrit la-hak?irat Erets Yisrael v?e-atik?oteha. This book was set and produced by the workshop of the publisher Tarshish. Tarshish was founded in Jerusalem in 1939 by typographer and font designer Dr. Moshe Spitzer, who previously was director of Schocken Publishing in Germany and also served as Martin Buber's assistant. The translator and editor in chief was Emmanuel Olsbanger. The publication has mainly been published in translated masterpieces from the best of the world classical literature, such as Dante's "Divine Comedy", the Bhagavad Gita (the important Hindu scriptures) and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. In addition to classical translations it published and translated original poetry books and important scholarly works like this one. Spitzer used good paper, beautiful letter type and and graphic design. Tarshish books are very sought after by Israeli bibliophiles and book collectors. In the early 1980s, it was acquired by Dvir Publishing.
