Soft cover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. 1st Edition. A most unusual souvenir in that it is short in height but wide, a small 'landscape' which measures 90mm high and 248mm wide, fixed with two staples. Not paginated but 40 pages inside slightly stiffened covers. A souvenir for the 1951 benefit of J F (Jack) parker, a successful all-round cricketer for Surrey from 1932 to 1952 with his potentially best years lost to WWII. On inside front cover, the beneficiary thanks Ron Yeomans for his "big-hearted Yorkshire gesture" in putting together this souvenir though precisely what his role was is not stated. John Graydon, Managing Sports Editor of Kemsley Newspapers, contributes a summary of Parker's career sub-titled "Surrey Cricketer and Gentleman". The majority of the booklet is taken up with cricket strips by Yeomans, drawn by Hitch, which are "a text book on the fundamentals of the game" which, the beneficiary feels, "will help the young cricketer and perhaps the matured player", per his article of thanks, a magnanimous gesture compared with later and present-day such souvenirs. A couple of pages on Surrey records and notes on their 1950 season when they were co-champions. Some markings on front cover; rear cover marked and creased; internally general clean and tidy if a shade tired; a little oxidation to staples.
