Seller: Sea Chest Books, Tucumcari, NM, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Revised Edition. Brown leatherette with elaborate gilt titling, tall quarto, 11 5/8 inches, wider than it is long, 15 3/8 inches wide, with a sewn binding. The book is the Revised edition, published a year after the original, in near fine condition with a very lightly bumped upper front corner, and the dust jacket is good, with some edge wear and shallow edge chips. Originally designed as a readable, illustrated McDonnell history for the family, the author soon realized that there was a much wider interest, as the McDonnells ( and McDonalds) are very much a part of the history of Northern Ireland and Western Scotland, and are to found worldwide. It is meant as sort of an introduction to a wider and more serious history, and is a very entertaining read with family trees, maps and amusing illustrations of characters and events and stories from the family history. Many of the characters have colorful names including The Buzzard, The WEE One, and the Conjuror. 65 pp.
