Softcover. Condition: neu. 1. Auflage.

First edition of this well-illustrated study on the environmental impact of the destruction of oil wells in Kuwait, based on government documents issued by the Iraqi government during the Gulf War. The work presents this damage, substantiated by copious data, as a main goal of the Iraqi war strategy of delayed sabotage. An appendix lists names of Iraqi officers accused of being "environmental criminals" as they took part in the identification of targets and methods, and the execution of the plan - phases which are carefully described in the first part. The second part discusses subsequent damages to the economy, public health, and the environment, including air and water pollution, and their impact on living organisms. The third part describes the strategies employed to limit the damage, such as the efforts of firefighters in extinguishing burning oil wells. Quarto. With facsimiles of documents, colour illustrations, and maps. Text in Arabic. Original pictorial wrappers, wire-stitched as issued. Pencilled Arabic word at head of last verso. Extremities a trifle rubbed or creased, contents clean: a very good copy.

JOHN MCLUSKY (illustrator). ORIGINAL IAN FLEMING COMMISSIONED PUBLISHED STORY BOARD ART FOR âJAMES BONDâS, DR. NOâ, Ca. 1958 UK Daily Express Newspaper. (Panel 673) FRAMEDÂ Features James Bond skillfully maneuvering through the tortuous obstacle course within the ventilation system. Ian Fleming commissioned John McLusky to illustrate a daily comic strip for his James Bond character and stories. In 1958 the original face of James Bond was born and graced the UK Daily Express newspaper as an on-going series while Ian Fleming continued to write his novels. The James Bond daily comic strips, each illustrated by by John McLusky originated in 1958 commencing with Casino Royale. McLusky worked from a story script, provided to him on a sheet of typed paper, outlining each frame. The pieces are rendered in graphite, pen, ink and tone âZippatoneâ, which came in sheets in various shades and textures. Lettering on all the panels of comic art was done entirely by hand, with some being hand lettered paste ups. This is an original one-of-a-kind published piece. The original artwork offered here was one of the strips for âDr. Noâ, which ran in the 1960âs. This superb 3 panel strip takes place at the moment of James Bond attempt to escape, having managed to get past the electric grate to enter into the tortuous course of the ventilation system. Interested in the ability of the human body to withstand and survive pain, Dr. No forces Bond to navigate his way through an obstacle course constructed in the facilityâs ventilation system. He is kept under regular observation, suffering electric shocks, burns and an encounter with large poisonous spiders along the way. (As classic as the movie version of Dr. No is, it totally messed up Bondâs escape through the vents. Instead of a planned obstacle course as in the novel, the movie gives us a nonsensical system of tunnels with various purposes that contradict each other.) The comic strip ran true to Ian Flemingâs novel. See how this scene is presented in the movie at the bottom of the listing in the you tube video. Condition:: The art is in very good condition with the expected age toning. *Please note we also have the comic panel which shows the continuation of Bond navigating the ventilation system. The two pieces would look stunning side by side on a wall. Presented in a new silver tone frame, the art was double matted, framed and glazed to a completed size of 23.75â x 11.25â . The artwork by sight is 17.5â x 5.25â . The piece has a stunning presence on the wall. PROVENANCE:ÂEx. The McLusky estate by descent. The art will be accompanied by a Letter of Provenance from the estate. FRAMED SIZE: 23.75â x 11.25â ***PLEASE INQUIRE FOR INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING RATES*** .

Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. For some years there has been growing dissatisfaction with litigation and arbitration as a means of settling construction disputes, and increasingly parties have been turning to adjudication and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). This trend was given a major impetus by the introduction of the 1996 Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act and the Scheme for Construction Contracts, which resulted in statutory adjudication being introduced in most of the main building and engineering standard forms. This book surveys the growth of ADR and looks in detail at the various methods: * adjudication and expert determination * mediation and conciliation * dispute review boards and disputes advisers * other forms, such as mini-trial and mediation-arbitration It discusses the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act and the Scheme for Construction Contracts, and their effect on adjudication and construction contracts considering both procedural and legal issues. It looks in detail at the adjudication clauses of all the main building and engineering contracts. aeo many construction contracts result in legal disputes aeo considerable interest in ADR at present with adjudication endorsed by the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act aeo Featuring the new adjudication clauses of revised standard construction contracts.
