It was extremely popular between the wars in both France and Germany. This copy was printed for Georges Ricou, co-director of the Opéra Comique from 1925 to 1931. BOUND IN IS RAYNAL'S ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT TREATMENT FOR THE WORK, WITH NUMEROUS CORRECTIONS AND REVISIONS. Squarish 8vo. Elegantly bound in contemporary three-quarters morocco, spine gilt. An attractive engraving of the Arc de Triomphe by Aimé Edmond Dallemagne (1882-1971). French water colourist and engraver. This is focussing on the tomb of the unknown soldier, and shows a group of mourners in front of it. It is signed in pencil by Dallemagne, and numbered 12/200. There is also a small vignette with the word "Pax" next to the number. The Arc d'triomphe was inaugurated in 1836. It honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I. Although this engraving is undated, it is probably Circa 1925. Good, clean image. The paper is a little foxed and marked to the edges, but still attractive. The details / title have been written in ink to the verso. 50cm x 32cm. .

Sie muss zwischen 1860 und 1870 entstanden sein, also vor der Zerstörung des abgebildeten Tuillerien-Palastes (1871) und vor der Fertigstellung des Eiffelturmes (1887), der auf dieser Panoramaansicht fehlt. 2100 gr.
