Paper covered decorative boards with cloth spine in good condition with rubbing to edges and boards. Inside hinges repaired with tapre leaving binding sound except for last 2 pages which have a little foxing. All pages plates in good clean condition. A nice copy.

Hardcover. Condition: Poor. 1st Edition. Half Title page inscr Feb 14th 1878. This is Walter Crane's excellent illustrated edition, in first edition. All pages are present, but they are worn and torn to edges, not affecting picture area in most cases. The book has been repaired with tape, and some pages put back in the wrong order. In all, a scarce item, but in need of tlc. Book.

Each contains a collection of songs for children with accompanying coloured illustrations. They are both facsimiles of books first published in1877. Covers: decorative, coloured, laminated card with colour illustration to front and rear of Baby's Opera, cream coloured lettering to front and black lettering to rear of Baby's Opera, green lettering to both faces of The Baby's Bouquet; both in excellent condition. Internally: both very clean and tightly perfect bound; no marks, inscriptions or book plates. Profusely illustrated in colour. 56 pp. each. Also includes off prints of 2 pages from The Baby's Bouquet.

Brown cloth spine, rear board slty faded at bottom corner. Short tear to the gutter of two leaves. Printed in colour by Edmund Evans but as the publisher's address includes the word Ltd, it was probably published post March 1917.

Walter Crane (15 August 1845 14 March 1915) was an English artist and book illustrator. He is considered to be the most influential, and among the most prolific, children's book creators of his generation[1] and, along with Randolph Caldecott and Kate Greenaway, one of the strongest contributors to the child's nursery motif that the genre of English children's illustrated literature would exhibit in its developmental stages in the later 19th century.

The vellum is slightly aged but in better than average condition, binding is sound , pages are clean with a very occasional light fox mark, corners are slightly bumped - overall a very good copy, better than usually found.

Hardcover with brown cloth spine and orange-red laminated boards. The book is in good condition (the edges of the front cover and spine are a little worn). Size: 18,5 x 18,5 cm, 56 pp. 11 full-page coloured illustrations by Walter Crane (engraved on wood by Edmund Evans) and margin decorations, in different styles and color schemes, on every page. The front cover shows a pictorial scene of the song Hey did-le did-le!, while the back shows a crane (bird) holding the musical scores of the same song. The music for the Baby's Opera was collected and arranged by Lucy Crane, Walter's sister. The first edition of the Opera was published in 1877 by George Routledge & Sons. l Walter Crane (1845-195) was one of the great innovative British book illustrators, along with Kate Greenaway and Randolph Caldecott. In the early years he got his main inspiration from illuminated medieval manuscripts, Japanese prints and the pre-Raphaeli.

Small square 8vo. 56 pages. With a colour frontispiece 10 colour woodcuts by E. Evans after W. Crane and several text illustrations. Original half cloth binding with brown covers. The corners slightly bumped, the edges a bit worn, the front fly a bit used at the margins. Rare first edition. On of the most popular books by Crane. Sprache: english.
