Gilt titled spine, light blue cloth with a paper label to upper cover and contained in a custom made scarlet cloth-covered slipcase (volume originally issued without a slipcase). An important and seminal work on Ravilious. 284pp. Prospectus booklet laid in. FP55 & FPE128.

A few very small marks on the back board, otherwise a fine copy. 'Over a short period of thirty-six months of the war, until he was tragically lost in Iceland during September 1942, Ravilious made well over a hundred watercolour paintings of British military subjects, with a number of fine lithographs of submarine interiors.' The artwork is beautifully reproduced and is accompanied by over 280 personal letters, diary excerpts and official memos. A lovely copy of a definitive work.

Edited by Ravilious's daughter, Anne Ullmann. With all of Ravilious's 110 wartime watercolors (including ships, planes, and coastal defenses) that he executed as an Official War Artist. Also included are texts of much of his correspondence from the last three years of his life. One of 750 copies. A fine and fresh copy.
