David Eugene Smith was a mathematician and historian of mathematics. His unsurpassed mathematical book collection, given to Columbia University, included a manuscript of Khayyam's algebra and another of the Rubaiyat. Information on the artist Rassam Arjangi is available on the Internet, also with the spelling of the family name as Arzhangi. We quote from a website devoted to this artistic family: "Abbas Rassam Arjangi (1892-1975) was born in Tabriz and like his father and brother studied art in Russia. He attended Academies of Art in Moscow, Baku and Tbilisi, specializing in painting and sculpture. Rev. Thomas Edward Hankinson (1805-1843), born in King's Lynn and educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge (M.A. 1831) where he won the Seatonian prize for poetry nine times. Curate at Castle Rising, Norfolk (18289), and St Nicholas Chapel, King's Lynn (182935), he became incumbent of St Matthew's Chapel, Denmark Hill (183543). Hankinson spent much of his leisure time in writing for the Seatonian prize at Cambridge for English verse, of which he was nine times the winner between 1831 and 1842.
