Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 2nd Edition. Second edition first printing of a near fine book in a very good hardcover with some rubbing. The story of John Ferrers found guilty of murder, and the events leading up to it. Interestingly the victim is not revealed until the end of the story. This book has Alvin Redman as the publisher on the book spine and the copyright page but it looks as if the publisher became Bailey Bros. & Swinfen at some point. The dustjacket says that and a sticker is present over the former publisher.

In the first chapter John Ferrers is found guilty of murder, but who has been murdered is not disclosed until the end of the story. The book is the slow unravelling of all the threads which make up the fabric of the crime. Why does a man commit murder or any other crime? What are the causes leading up to that culminating moment when control gives way, when the breaking point is reached?" Previous owners name in ink on free front endpaper, tiny bump to corners of boards, very light wrinkling at top of spine, the publisher information for Bailey Bros. & Swinfen is pasted on the title page below the Alvin Redman logo.
