Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Master's Thesis from the year 2014 in the subject Mathematics - Applied Mathematics, grade: A+, Mälardalen University, language: English, abstract: The main goal of this project is to explore the use of stochastic simulation, genetic algorithms, fuzzy decision making and other tools for solving complex maintenance planning optimization problems. We use two different maintenance activities, corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance. Since the evaluation of specifc candidate maintenance policies can take a long time to execute and the problem of finding the optimal policy is both non-linear and non-convex, we propose the use of genetic algorithms (GA) for the optimization. The main task of the GA is to find the optimal maintenance policy, which involves: (1) the probability of breakdown, (2) calculation of the cost of corrective maintenance, (3) calculation of the cost of preventive maintenance and (4) calculation of ROI (Return On Investment). Another goal of this project is to create a decision making model for multi-criteria systems. To find a near-optimal maintenance policy, we need to have an overview over the health status of the system components. To model the health of a component we should find all the operational criteria that affect it. We also need to analyze alternative maintenance activities in order to make the best maintenance decisions. In order to do that, the TOPSIS method and fuzzy decision making has been used. To evaluate the proposed methodology, internal combustion engine cooling of a typical Scania truck was used as a case study.

Neuware -Personnel selection usually is done by a group of decision makers as a result of the evaluation of candidates by various criteria and subjective judgments. Placing the right personnel to the right job depends on the selection according to objective criteria. The personnel selection problems are included in the multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problems because large number of the criteria effects on the decisions and number of the candidates are more than one. Fuzzy decision making methods are useful in cases where there is uncertainty because the criteria and the weights can be evaluated by linguistic variables. Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP), fuzzy TOPSIS (FTOPSIS) and fuzzy Electre (FELECTRE) are fuzzy multi-criteria decision making methods which are used to solve the uncertainty of the decision makers¿ decision. In this book, FAHP, FTOPSIS and FELECTRE are applied to the personnel selection. There are six basic criteria for selecting the best candidate among the five applicants. These criteria are: biography, education, experience, foreign language, personality and references. Through these methods five applicant were ranked from good to worst in terms of values.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 112 pp. Englisch.

Add to basketBuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware -This book offers a comprehensive guide to the use of neutrosophic sets in multiple criteria decision making problems. It shows how neutrosophic sets, which have been developed as an extension of fuzzy and paraconsistent logic, can help in dealing with certain types of uncertainty that classical methods could not cope with. The chapters, written by well-known researchers, report on cutting-edge methodologies they have been developing and testing on a variety of engineering problems. The book is unique in its kind as it reports for the first time and in a comprehensive manner on the joint use of neutrosophic sets together with existing decision making methods to solve multi-criteria decision-making problems, as well as other engineering problems that are complex, hard to model and/or include incomplete and vague data. By providing new ideas, suggestions and directions for the solution of complex problems in engineering and decision making, it represents an excellent guide for researchers, lecturers and postgraduate students pursuing research on neutrosophic decision making, and more in general in the area of industrial and management engineering.Springer Verlag GmbH, Tiergartenstr. 17, 69121 Heidelberg 752 pp. Englisch.
