Full calf leather. 379, A-C6 pp. With apparent extra endpapers present containing some sort of ecclesiastical or theological work. An expansive survey, with brief history and lists of the members of royalty in England. By Peter Heylyn, a prolific English author, and supporter of Charles I, in the 1600s. FAIR condition. Both covers almost completely detached from the binding, tenuously holding on. Spine creased, with some chipping and loss of leather at the head and tail. Minor staining to the covers. Owner's name on the title page, with a brief note of the title on the fore edges of the pages. Small dampstain to the lower page corners of the first part of the book.

In a modern plain slightly amateur full tan crushed calf, new endpapers, front endpaper creased, a number of the small woodcut emblematic shields have been coloured in, neatly, but later, one page has a closed tear from outer edge in about an inch, no loss, there are several pages with marginal notes and revised or updated amendments in a contemporary 17th century handwriting style, main title a little age toned and with browning at the edges, contents all tight and clean to see and handle. 12mo size. 1680. *John Chappel Woodhouse was an English Anglican priest who was Archdeacon of Salop from 17 October 1798 until 24 December 1821 and Dean of Litchfield from 1807 until his death.
