Surtees (1814 1889) was the rector of Sprotburgh in Yorkshire. He states that 'there are few points of history more self-evident and precise than that Cæsar sailed from or near the mouths of the Rhine, and landed upon the coasts of Norfolk'. A couple of handwritten notes by the author in the margins of page 7 and several corrections to the text in his hand. Some very light occasional foxing, upper hinge partially torn, otherwise a very good, bright copy. Slight wear, otherwise very good indeed.
