Soft cover. Condition: As New. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 35 pages. Published in 2011. Exhibition Catalog. Sequence of color photographs. The first and only edition. Published in a small and limited print run as a softcover original only. There is no ISBN. The Catalog is now rare. It is beautifully produced by the Seoul Museum of Art, with pictorial softcovers, text by Choi Jeong Ju, and stunning color photographs by Lim Hyoung Tae that are reproduced on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper in Seoul, Korea to the highest standards. The reproduction quality is exemplary in every respect. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Lim Hyoung Tae's "I See: Photographs". Conceptual art photography at its most contemplative and sublime. He appears in every image, situating himself in Nature, a juxtaposition that alludes to his personal philosophy of "being-towards-death" as "being-returning-to-Nature" (the artist is deeply influenced by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, as indeed, many artists who are obsessed by death and dying are). The simplicity of the photographs belies their rich and complex layered-ness. Like all reflective artists, Lim Hyoung Tae's coolly detached style presents the Ordinary as being transformed and made Extraordinary through the intervention of art. Each image is part of a sequence that is individually and collectively titled "I See". The artist/photographer has also put together a CD-Rom of his work, which is laid-into the book. An absolute "must-have" title for Lim Hyoung Tae collectors. This title is a contemporary art photography classic. It comes with a CD-rom created by Lim Hyoung Tae that is very prominently and beautifully signed and annotated in black pen-marker in front by him. The annotation includes his personal contact information, and as such, cannot be given here to protect his privacy. As far as we know, this is the only copy (with CD-rom) of the Exhibition Catalog available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare copy thus. 12 color plates, 1 CD-rom. One of the most brilliant artist/photographers of our time. A fine copy. Signed by Author.

Rene Lacote (illustrator). René LACÔTE Gilbert RIGAUD Where the Desert Ends Maeght Publisher | Paris 1946 | 24.50 x 31.50 cm | loose sheets in a folder and slipcase SIGNED by Author First edition, one of 300 numbered copies on rives vellum, deluxe edition. Illustrated with 10 original lithographs by Gilbert Rigaud. Covers show some shading and discoloration from light , small tears on the spine of the folder and the front of the slipcase. Interior in fine condition. Handwritten signature of René Lacôte below the colophon. Où finit le désert (translated as Where the Desert Ends) is a poetry collection by French poet René Lacôte, first published in 1946. The work reflects Lacôte's experiences and observations during and after World War II, particularly his involvement in the French Resistance and his imprisonment at Fresnes prison in 1944. These experiences deeply influenced his poetic voice, leading to themes of solitude, resilience, and the human spirit's endurance in the face of adversity. The collection is noted for its introspective and evocative language, exploring the boundaries between desolation and hope. One of the poems from the collection illustrates this blend of imagery and emotion: "Il commence à pleuvoir au loin sur les hangars, un berger reste seul où des rochers ont fui, des forêts en chemin s'endorment sur la mer, une femme s'avance au large de l'oubli." This passage exemplifies Lacôte's use of natural and solitary imagery to convey deeper emotional states and existential reflections. The original 1946 edition was published by Maeght Éditeur and featured ten original lithographs by artist Gilbert Rigaud, making it a notable collaboration between poetry and visual art. Où finit le désert stands as a significant work in post-war French literature, offering insight into the personal and collective struggles of the era through Lacôte's poignant and reflective poetry.
