The original dark blue cloth is in excellent shape with gilt lettering in black title-block still bright on the spine. The dust jacket shows only light wear and retains its price ($9.50), though the flap's bottom corner is clipped. Endpapers are pristine and the top edge of text-block is colored blue-green. The interior is bright, but my father, who taught philosophy for nearly fifty years, left pencil marks in three of the essays, principally in "The State of Nature and the Nature of Man," by Hans Aarsleff.
