Magazine / Periodical First Edition
Soft cover. 1st Edition. IAN FLEMING'S James Bond story "QUANTUM OF SOLACE", in COSMOPOLITAN magazine May, 1959 issue, includes artwork that appears nowhere else. VERY RARE AND MUST HAVE FOR THE IAN FLEMING/JAMES BOND COLLECTOR - THIS WAS IAN FLEMING'S VERY FIRST JAMES BOND SHORT STORY AND SPECIALLY COMMISSIONED BY COSMOPOLITAN (LONG BEFORE JAMES BOND BECAME A POPULAR LITERARY FIGURE IN THE U.S.), THERE WAS NO CORRESPONDING U.K. MAGAZINE PUBLICATION AND THE STORY WASN'T PUBLISHED IN BOOK FORM UNTIL A YEAR LATER IN 'FOR YOUR EYES ONLY'. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT ITEM TO FIND NOW AS THE TITLE WAS RECENTLY USED AS THE TITLE FOR THE 2ND DANIEL CRAIG BOND FILM. Magazine is very nice - no wear to spine tips (tiny bit of wear near top of spine), no cover creases, no cover tears, tiny nick loss to bottom right corner, no subscription label, no missing pages, no former ownership markings or used bookstore stamps inside, tiny bit of discoloration to right edge on cover otherwise no soiling or staining to cover, virtually no color cover rubbing (common defect with this magazine), no dust soiling to covers, no edge wear. I have a number of other U.S. and U.K. Ian Fleming James Bond magazine appearances up for sale.

Add to basketFirst Edition. [James Bond] COMPLETE BOOK CLUB EDITIONS. 11 volumes. Octavo (20 x 14 x 26cm). Publisher's hardbacks in illustrated dust-wrappers. The entire run of the popular British book club editions, which began in 1956 with 'Live and Let Die'. In total eleven of the fourteen James Bond titles were issued in this format and this set is complete as published. A used set in jackets; some spotting/toning to edges of text blocks, no ink writing, owner's rubber stamp to 'Live Twice', earlier jackets are worn; DAF, FRWL and DN have some chips and tears, later jackets better. Overall a good, used set. Ian Fleming's books were offered in this cheaper format, usually one year after the Cape first editions- some share the same Jonathan Cape artwork, but after the 'Thunderball' painting was damaged while on loan in America, Cape would no longer lend out their original art; as such the Book Club commissioned their own action-packed and striking cover designs.
