Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. Near Fine. See scans and description. New York: The Amies Publishing Company, 1888 (original art copyright 1877). Engraving, "Completion of the Pacific Railroad". The State of Missouri chartered the construction of the Pacific Railroad in 1849; and the first run occurred on December 9, 1852, hence this engraving is of a scene shortly before that date. It is the work of Felix O.C. Darley (artist) and Alfred [aka Albert] Bobbett (engraver), both noteworthy names in the trade at the time. Excised from an otherwise-deteriorated historical publication of 1888 by The Amies Publishing Company. Near Fine; small-scale uneveness at edges. See scan. No printing on reverses. Worthy of framing. Approximately 8 5/8" x 6 1/8" overall. Stout two-tone yellow/buff & cream paper. LPR36. Felix O.C. Darley (Artist), Alfred [aka Albert] Bobbett (Engraver) (illustrator).

This is an original official scorecard and fixture card from the legendary Eton vs. Harrow match held at Lord's Ground on Friday and Saturday, July 12 and 13, 1907. This specific match holds a legendary status in cricket trivia, as it documents the historic performance of Harrow captain Morice Bird (M. C. Bird). As printed on the card, he scored 100 not out in the first innings and 131 in the second. He remains the only player in the entire 220-year history of the Eton v Harrow fixture to score centuries in both innings of a match. The Eton line-up features the Hon. L. H. Tennyson (Lionel Tennyson), grandson of the Poet Laureate Alfred, Lord Tennyson, who went on to captain the England Test team in 1921. The back of the card features a comprehensive "Results Since 1896" archive for top tier fixtures, alongside the full 1907 Lord's Season schedule, notably featuring the England vs. South Africa First Test Match from July 1st. It also features a rare period advertisement for purchasing Metropolitan Railway tickets directly inside the ground. A nice piece of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) history, and Edwardian memorabilia. The card has some noticeable creasing wear else is in good condition as seen. This is a lighter item, overseas shipping costs will be reduced at checkout where possible.
