Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Oversized hardcover, fully trilingual (English & French & German), limited edition of 1200 copies, 80 pages, NOT ex-library. Title-page inscribed by Christel Rosenfeld. Mild handling wear only, book is clean and bright with unmarked text, free of stamps, firmly bound. Issued without a dust jacket. -- Sommaire - Contents - Inhalt: Christel Rosenfeld: Le corps de la peinture - The Body of Painting - Der Körper der Malerei / Prof. Dr. Helmut Friedel; Oeuvres - Works - Werke, pp 20-71; Liste des illustrations - List of illustrations - Abbildungsverzeichnis; Biographie - Biography - Biographie -- German artist Christel Rosenfeld presents a striking collection of 25 "wood reliefs", sculptural compositions crafted from individually cut wooden elements. Each piece is assembled into a dynamic whole, merging the structural qualities of sculpture with the language of painting. Rosenfeld selects wood fragments of varying shapes and textures, which she paints using tempera and oil resin, enveloping every surface in pigment so that no element remains untouched. This immersive pictorial process binds each fragment into a unified visual field. The material presence of the work - particularly the tactile grain and contours of certain wood pieces that assert themselves through translucent layers of paint - remains central to her artistic vision, foregrounding the expressive interplay between form, surface, and substance.
