Couverture souple. Condition: Très bon. Edition originale. Tiré à part extrait du Le Travail Humain, 18, 8 pages - - - Research on the causes of nervous fatigue in work has shown that the rhythm of movements seems to be a fundamental factor. The study of a group of mentally sick in whom the loss of the faculties of adaptation enables the first signs of fatigue to be easily discernable reveals two clearly definied types of rhythm : one is relatively rapid, but irregular, with precise, short, jerky movements, bringing into play the small muscles of the hand and forearm ; the other is slow and regular, with broad, supple, rounded gestures, made by the big muscles of the arm with the help of those of the whole body. Each subject has thus his own personal rhythm, in type and timing. The former show a steady attention to their work, which should, therefore, be varied. The latter, whose gestures are automatic, are made for monotonous work; Work in industry, which more often than not does not respect these natural gifts, causes excessive fatigue. Conveyor belt production, which requires rapidity as well as regularity of movement, which are incompatible at least in certain cases according to the types of activity mentioned above. This causes tension, which rises like a screen between the subject and its surroundings and abolishes the natural exchanges between man and the outside world.
