Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Illustrated (illustrator). 1st Edition. Rare and obscure book published in Russian in Prague and written by Sergey L. Bertenson, who in "1918. was invited by Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko to the Moscow Art Theater, where he worked as a secretary of the directorate, the head of the troupe [5]; Later - deputy director of the Music Studio at the Art Theater [6]. He toured with a group of artists of the Moscow Art Theater in the territory of the Volunteer Army, Georgia and Western Europe, and then with the whole theater and his music studio for Europe and America " This book is about those tours he took with the troupe. In 1928 he defected and emigrated to America and eventually Hollywood, where he died in 1962. Original covers are bound in later cloth and appear to be missing the back cover.

Quarto, wrappers, 28pp. A celebratory booklet, reviewing five years of drama and visual support, stage design, etc. The editor, Janis Muncis (1886-1955) was a set designer who employed distinctive modernist elements in his work, which is illustrated here. Rare: Worldcat finds no copies held in libraries.

Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Octavo 18x12.4 cm, wrappers, 56pp. Very rare publication with little circulation which documents the activities of the Turkish Workers Theater in Baku. With photo illustrations of productions, actors, and staff. It sports a superb constructivist cover by BorR (Konstantin Georgievich Ramenskii (1900-1943), an important graphic and stage designer who worked in Tiflis, Moscow and Siberia and produced many iconic images of the Soviet era, especially in book covers. The Turkish Workers Theater began in the midst of civil war, staging agit-props to reach the minority speakers in Azerbaijan. It expanded from there, enriching both actors and audience to develop and offer new dramas conceived in their own language. It includes a list of the entire productions that the theater produced from 1921. OCLC locates no copies worldwide. The Magazine "Russian Art" Was Founded In 1923. A Prominent Educator Of His Time, Solomon Abramov (1884-1957), Published A Magazine In The Tvorchestvo Publishing House Founded By Him. The Aim Of The Magazine Was To Popularize Russian Art In Russia Itself And, As The Publisher And The Group Of Authors Dreamed About It , In Europe And America . At That Time, Among The Editorial Staff Were Prominent Figures Of Russian Culture : Brvipper , Ie Grabar, Ei Zamyatin , Pp Muratov , Osip E Mandelstam, Nn Punin, Ms Shaginyan And Others. In 1923, Three Issues Of The Magazine Were Published (In Two Issues, Since The Numbers Two And Three Were Combined), After Which The Publication Of The Magazine Was Discontinued.
