The First UK printing of this illustrated edition published by The Golden Cockerel Press, Waltham Saint Lawrence, Berkshire in 1929. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Full black morocco rebinding with five raised bands and gilt titling to the spine. Top edge gilt with others uncut as issued. Striking marbled end-papers. Free from inscriptions. Light spotting to the end-papers and mild toning to the text-block, otherwise internally very clean. 'The atrocities of the pirates : being a faithful narrative of the umparalleled sufferings endured by the author during his captivity among the pirates of the island of Cuba ; with an account of the excesses and barbarities of those inhuman freebooters, together with a copious and explicit report of his subsequent trial at the Old Bailey. The text is that of the original edition of 1824'. This is number 399 of 500 copies issued. 10 striking B/W woodcuts (frontispiece and 9 in-text illustrations) by Eric Ravilious.
