A first edition, first printing published by Michael Joseph in 1957. A very good (or better) book without inscriptions. Some offsetting to the endpapers. Some Browning to the page edges and spotting. In a very good (or better) unclipped dustwrapper with some wear to the spine tips and corners and a little light chipping. A little light soiling to the rear panel and some browning to the spine - rare in this condition. The story is set in the fictional English village of Midwich, where a mysterious event renders all the inhabitants unconscious for an entire day. Later, it's discovered that every woman of childbearing age is pregnant, and the children born from this event possess unusual, otherworldly abilities. These children, called "the Midwich Cuckoos," raise questions about human nature, ethics, and the consequences of contact with extraterrestrial beings, making it a classic in the science fiction genre.
