La Queste del Saint Graal (ou, selon une appellation qu'on trouve fréquemment dans les manuscrits, les Aventures del saint Graal) fut composée pour être liée au Lancelot en prose, qui s'attribue comme elle à Gautier Map. La Mort Artur se donne expressément pour l'épilogue du Lancelot et de la Queste, et s'attribue aussi et Gautier Map. En outre le Grand Saint Graal ou Estoire du Graal et le Merlin se rattachent également à cet ensemble, dont ils forment le prologue. On appelle communément cycle de Map ou du Lancelot Graal la série composée de ces romans, rangés comme suit Estoire, Merlin et sa suite ordinaire, Lancelot, Queste et Mort Artur.
