Synopsis

Explore how ancient myth becomes history as Bryant traces the migrations that shaped the early world.

This volume, part of A New System, or an Analysis of Antient Mythology, opens a path from Mount Ararat to the emergence of nations.

In this volume, the author moves beyond fable to examine how place names, geographies, and early writings illuminate primitive history and migration. He weaves together archaeology, language, and classical authorities to ground legendary events in a broader human past.

The discussion covers key ideas such as the descent from the ark at Ararat, the spread of peoples from Armenia, and the roles of groups like the Minyas and the Cuthites. It also explores how the ancient Erythrean Sea served as a geographic and cultural frame for early civilizations, including ties to Egypt and Mesopotamia.

• How Mount Ararat and the Armenian region anchor accounts of the flood and repopulation
• Connections between old place names, peoples, and their migrations
• The idea of the Erythrean Sea as a broader geographic boundary
• Links between biblical timelines and ancient dynasties in Egypt

Ideal for readers interested in ancient history, myth, and the effort to read legend through the lens of geography and early sources.
