In reference to the Collection of Paper Money, all notes are supposed to be genuine.

In reference to the collection of stamps etc., every piece is warranted genuine.

A indicates that the stamp or set is unused. The absence of a star, except for proofs and essays (which are always unused), indicates that the stamps have been used. Figures in parenthesis indicate duplicates, except where v. Or var. Is used, when so many distinct varieties are meant. Perforated stamps are indicated by (p), imperforated by (imp), rouletted by (r). Envelope stamps are cut square, unless stated otherwise.

Bids must be made on the number expressed in the right-hand margin of each lot. For instance, if the number in the margin is 10, that means 10 pieces; and if the bidder thinks that lot is worth to him, his bid will be 10 cents. It may happen that the bidder does not want all the pieces in any certain lot. There is no remedy for this. Lots are not separated; the bidder bids on the whole lot at so much for each piece in that lot.
