Our sovereign, the Second George - brave, decisive, and clear-sighted by nature - choleric, boorish, and, above all, devotedly German - tranquilly holding the title and power of King of Great Britain - directed his aspirations, and poured out the resources of the kingdom he had acquired, to maintain his dignity as Elector of Hanover, and to support his German relations.
