Reliure demi-chagrin bleu, dos à quatre fins nerfs orné de caissons à froid décorés de fleurons dorés, encadrements de filets à froid sur les plats de percaline indigo, plats larginalement salis en pieds, gardes et contreplats de papier marron, ex-libris moderne encollé sur un contreplat, reliure de l'époque, Quelques petites rousseurs, une tache d'encre noire sur la tranche sans affecter aucunement le texte. * L'auteur, le médecin grec Alexandros Paspatis (1814-1891), était un des représentants les plus éminents de la communauté grecque de Constantinople où il résida de 1839 à 1882. Il a écrit un grand nombre d'ouvrages de médecine, d'archéologie et d'histoire de Constantinople, en grec, en anglais et en français. | [ENGLISH DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS] First edition. Some scattered foxing, a black ink stain on the edge not affecting the text. * The author, the Greek physician Alexandros Paspatis (1814-1891), was one of the most prominent figures of the Greek community in Constantinople, where he lived from 1839 to 1882. X-[2]-652 pp. Constantinople, ?Imprimerie Antoine Koroméla, 1870, in-8, X-[2]-652 pp, Demi-chagrin noir, dos à faux nerfs orné de filets à froid, Édition originale rare de cet ouvrage consacré aux tziganes de l'empire ottoman. L'auteur y aborde l'histoire de ce peuple et de sa langue. Il comprend également, in fine, un lexique puis la retranscription et la traduction de contes traditionnels. Alexander George Paspatis était un médecin grec et byzantologue réputé de son époque. Cet ouvrage est l'un des rares sur la question et conserve tout son intérêt de nos jours. Petits frottements et épidermures, quelques pâles rousseurs et taches en début et fin de volume, quelques annotations de lecture. Peu commun sur le marché.
