From the library of noted photography collector and dealer Terry Etherton. Alvin Booth [b. 1959] is an English-born photographer. His Osmosis images are deliberately more abstract, diffuse, and otherworldly than his previous works. The human form is reduced to its bare lines, and like a delicate gouache the body dissolves into the paper. The exquisite tones of the images and the graceful, ghostly figures are suggestive of 19th-century photography, reflecting Booth's old-world techniques and approach to the craft. Galerie Vevais is an independent German fine-art photography publisher based in Bliesdorf, Brandenburg, Germany. Founded by editor Alexander Scholz, it is highly regarded for producing premium, limited-edition art books, monographs, and the renowned "WERKDRUCK" series. Known for collaborating with acclaimed artists, including Jock Sturges, Beth Moon, and Masao Yamamoto, Galerie Vevais prioritizes traditional craftsmanship. The ecstatic slaves of Booth's images, bound and kneeling, have the sensibility of a Victorian melodrama. The miniature, secretive series of images entitled 'Small Collectors' contain the illicit ambience of pornographic daguerreotypes of the 1850s or French postcards of voluptuous femininity from later in the nineteenth century.
