All uniformly bound in cloth of varying colour, with titles front and spine. All illustrated. 16mos. All volumes in generally very good condition, some are slightly pushed at spine ends, most have a little dust marking to the upper text block edge, and some have a previous owner's name or inscription internally, else are neat, clean bright and tight. All in glossy, illustrated dust wrappers, some lightly bumped on extreme edges, some price clipped and almost all a little shelf worn and sunned, faded on the spine. A mixture of editions and printings but all in the style of dust wrappers introduced in 1970 - glossy and laminated with a distinctive square, framed illustration - and prevalent until around 1980. Observer's Pocket books is a series of pocket-sized books published by Frederick Warne and covering topics such as hobbies, art, nature and history. The first in the series - British Birds - was published in 1937. The 99th title, the Observer's Book of Observer's Books was released in 1999 (by Peregrine Books) in a matching format. The series was rounded to 100 with the publication of Wayside and Woodland in 2003.
