Thin films of ZnS find many more applications in the area of opto electronic device fabrication like UV light emitt…ing diodes, blue light emitting diodes, emissive flat screens, electroluminescent devices and antireflection coating in solar cell technology. Several methods have been used to prepare ZnS thin films. We have deposited ZnS films using chemical bath deposition method using sodium hydroxide as a complexing agent. The structural and morphological characteristics of films have been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope. XRD shows deposited film was polycrystalline nature with cubic structure. The grain size is estimated to be in the range of 35-70 nm. The crystallinity of the ZnS film was analysed by HRTEM with the help of the electron diffraction pattern. The films show good optical properties with high transmittance in the visible region and the band gap value were found 3.3 eV ¿ 2.1 eV. ZnS films can be used as buffer layers on CdTe solar cells. 60 pp. Englisch.

Las características estructurales y morfológicas de las películas se han investigado mediante difracción de rayos X (DRX) y microscopio electrónico de barrido. La DRX muestra que la película depositada era de naturaleza policristalina con estructura cúbica. El tamaño de grano se estima en el rango de 35-70 nm. La cristalinidad de la película de ZnS se analizó mediante HRTEM con la ayuda del patrón de difracción de electrones. Las películas muestran buenas propiedades ópticas con alta transmitancia en la región visible y el valor de la banda de separación se encontró 3,3 eV - 2,1 eV. Per preparare i film sottili di ZnS sono stati utilizzati diversi metodi. Abbiamo depositato film di ZnS con il metodo della deposizione in bagno chimico, utilizzando l'idrossido di sodio come agente complessante. Le caratteristiche strutturali e morfologiche dei film sono state studiate mediante diffrazione di raggi X (XRD) e microscopio elettronico a scansione. La XRD mostra che il film depositato è di natura policristallina con struttura cubica. La dimensione dei grani è stimata nell'intervallo 35-70 nm. La cristallinità del film di ZnS è stata analizzata mediante HRTEM con l'aiuto del modello di diffrazione elettronica. I film mostrano buone proprietà ottiche con un'elevata trasmittanza nella regione del visibile e il valore di band gap è risultato pari a 3,3 eV - 2,1 eV. As películas finas de ZnS têm muitas outras aplicações na área do fabrico de dispositivos opto-electrónicos, como…díodos emissores de luz UV, díodos emissores de luz azul, ecrãs planos emissivos, dispositivos electroluminescentes e revestimento antirreflexo na tecnologia de células solares. Foram utilizados vários métodos para preparar películas finas de ZnS. Depositámos películas de ZnS através do método de deposição por banho químico, utilizando hidróxido de sódio como agente complexante. As características estruturais e morfológicas das películas foram investigadas por difração de raios X (XRD) e microscópio eletrónico de varrimento. A DRX mostra que a película depositada é de natureza policristalina com estrutura cúbica. O tamanho do grão é estimado em 35-70 nm. A cristalinidade da película de ZnS foi analisada por HRTEM com a ajuda do padrão de difração de electrões. As películas apresentam boas propriedades ópticas com elevada transmitância na região do visível e o valor do intervalo de banda foi de 3,3 eV - 2,1 eV. As películas de ZnS podem ser utilizadas como camadas tampão em células solares de CdTe.
