A.e.g., gilt tooling to board edges & turn-ins, red marbled endpapers, occasional spot, list of plates in Vol 1 mentions view of Berwick lighthouse which appears in vol 2 as title-vignette, book label to fpd's (Mr John Henry Fox). Volume one contains frontis, vignette and 50 plates. Volume two contains frontis, vignette and 50 plates and this republication includes 20 plates of Irish interveal, later expanded edition with extra plates. Pages slightly browned and foxed, including some tissue guards and page edges in gilt. Extremities worn with corners bumped which have slightly cracked. Due to weight of volumes, both spine joints have split, with it more prominent to bottom of upper cover and inner hinge cracked otherwise a lovely clean copy.

Condition: Fair. this appears to be the expanded edition published in about 1850? it is undated.there are 144 plates, almost all of them complete with tissue guards. 2 volumes in one. the original quarter leather boards are very worn and marked and there is some damp staining that has affected the top few centimeters, these do not impact on the plates themselves but only affect the edges. there are age related marks and small defects and the hinges have been strengthened. the binding is good.
