Condition: Sehr gut. 119 pp. num. col. ill. Very good copy with small signs of wear, dust jacket with some light scratches. - Signed copy, dedicated to Irmelin (Hoffer). / It has been said that the painter Bent Holstein goes his own way - that he will not be persuaded to join groups or to embrace trends that are antithetical to his own practice as a painter. As I have come to understand Holstein's position, I have little reason to doubt his 'modus operandi. Given the manner in which he works, it seems perfectly tenable that he should go his own way. Over the years, Holstein has gracefully traversed a curious spectrum of contemporary forms in painting that began to emerge in the sixties. He has gone from being a pop realist into a unique form of painterly symbolism that, in turn, has gradually modulated towards an important and noteworthy form of expressionism. Throughout this unique trajectory, Holstein has always moved forward according to what his experience dictates. In an interview with the Danish journalist Lasse Jensen (1992), he explains: "Visual art is unique because it is perhaps the only art form that doesn't have a course. You can stop. Close your eyes. And it's there, unchanged, when you open them again." (The Point of No Return By Robert C. Morgan) ISBN 8788223531 da Gewicht in Gramm: 250 Orig.-Pp.; Orig.-Schutzumschlag.
