Add to basketpp. (viii), 184, 14, (i) plates XV and XVI, (i) blank. 16 plates [nos. 2/6/7/8 lithographed, the remainder engraved], drawn by CARL VON NAGEL and CHRISTIAN AUGUST VOIGT. Plate I shows the Plösslische Mikroskop and accessories [as developed by Simon Plössl, a Viennese optician], the remainder illustrate 177 histological specimens. Contemporary half calf and marbled boards, spine repaired, scattered spotting, library stamp in the gutter margin of the Latin title, no other library stamps or labels, overall a very good copy with the book-plate of GEORGE SAYLE [MRCS]. *This is the earliest Atlas of human histology, first issued in 12 Lieferungen/Fascicles, with a total of 24 plates, over six years, 1836-1842. Although the above is clearly incomplete, it is identical to copies in the Royal College of Surgeons - Kings College and Cambridge libraries [see COPAC] - the final page of descriptive text ends in mid-sentence in the German and is not followed by the parallel Latin text. This is followed by the explanatory text for the plates and there is no physical hiatus in the binding of the volume. The first 8 fascicles were published 1836-1837. There was an interval of 5 years in publishing the final 4 fascicles, and it would appear that purchasers bound those parts to hand at the time expecting that no further parts were to be issued. GEORGE SAYLE [d.1857] author of - An enquiry into the sanatory state of the town of Lynn (Lyme) Regis, [1847?], see also THE MEDICAL TIMES, 1845, an article by Sayle on a case of poisoning by aconite. At the time, Sayle was recorded as MRCS, King's Lynn, Norfolk, and formerly Curator of the Anatomical Museum at St. George's Hospital Medical School. As he was not a Fellow, he does not have a separate entry in Plarr's Lives, but in the entry for Charles Cotton, it is recorded that Cotton took the post of Surgeon to the West Norfolk and Lynn Hospital vacated by the death of George Sayle in 1857.…

Add to basketMed. Jb., 1835/18/2. - Wien, Carl Gerold, 1835, 8°, VIII, 334 pp., pp.187-336, 1 lith. Taf., orig. Broschur. Erstdruck! Anatomia Partium Microscopicarum Corporis Humani (Wien: Carl Gerold, 1836-42).…

Add to basket4 Bände. Erste Ausgabe. Joseph Berres, ab 1842 Edler von Perez (* 18. März 1796 in Göding; 24.
