This book offers a unique insight into the development of architecture, painting, and sculpture within Switzerland, from the earliest Christian vestiges to the neoclassicism of the 18th century. The author takes a geographical approach, discussing the development of different styles across the diverse regions of Switzerland. A major theme that emerges is how Swiss art forms were influenced by external forces, such as the Italian Renaissance and French classicism, while still maintaining a distinctly Swiss character. The author emphasizes the importance of local building traditions, skilled craftsmanship, and the influence of the Protestant Reformation in shaping Swiss art and architecture. The book is richly illustrated with photographs of churches, castles, and other buildings, as well as paintings and sculptures, providing a comprehensive visual record of Swiss art history. It is an invaluable resource for scholars of Swiss art and architecture, as well as general readers interested in the cultural history of this fascinating country. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

No Binding. Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. Issue #7 of this tabloid-style Vancouver literary magazine. Sheets folded at spine to 17" x 11" in protective mylar envelope. Quite nice condition though browned due to high pulp content of the cheap newsprint paper. Under Persky's influence the magazine published many Bay Area poets associated with the Spicer Circle, in addition to Vancouver TISH writers and confederates.
