Clément, s.d. [ circa 1879-1880 ] Très beau tirage sur chine bénéficiant d'un superbe encrage pour cette célèbre gravure par Paul Rajon, d'après le fameux tableau de Léon Bonnat. Si l'on croise régulièrement cette gravure (qui fut notamment reproduite par la revue '"L'Art"), dans des tirages de qualité très diverses, ce présent tirage sur papier de chine semble rare. Béraldi évoque le graveur Paul Rajon comme un "admirable graveur au travail libre, fin et serré". (Béraldi, Graveurs du XIXe, XI, 124). Bon état (petites pliures en marges et infimes éclats d'encre) pour ce tirage au superbe encrage. Langue: Français.

Etat très satisfaisant (dos lég. frotté avec mouill. en queue, bon état par ailleurs) Langue: Français.

Sound close VG+ copy with a few slight marks to covers and slight foxing to prelims.

There is no publication date on the title page, copyright page or limitation page. Preface is dated 1915. Limitation page (in French) is not numbered. A limited edition of 200 copies. Unpaginated. Full page plates, each with tissue sheet for protection. About 60 plates including work by Monet, Degas, Renoir, Rodin, Bonnard, Vuillard and many more. Plates are black and white lithographs. The book measures 11.25 x 14.5 inches. It appears that the book was originally issued in softcover, as there is a 'cover' page bound in at the front with title of the book & much more faded and worn that the interior pages.
