Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 2 volumes. Hardcovers in rust-red cloth with black and gold lettering on the spine and covers. Front covers also have blue and white and orange illustrated decorations. Some normal wear to covers, a stray drip or bumped corner as well. Binding of volume 1 good and tight. 221 pages. Illustrated with drawings and diagrams throughout. Decorative gold endpapers. Small French bookstore sticker on inside front cover. The second volume is the "Atlas" volume. Boards are much the same as the first in terms of decoration and wear. Volume 2 is split at the gutter on the page after the title page. This volumes contains 13 remarkable color illustrations, each on thick boards. The illustrations are in color, and each contains many, unfolding, layers of detail for the pictured motors and machines. The first is a locomotive, and it has 6 separate, unfolding parts. The next is a Turbine, with at least 7 small, tabbed, unfolding parts. There is also a motorcycle, a car, a Wright airplane and a Voisin airplane, a magneto, telegraph and more. One of them, the Gazogenes, has come unglued from the page, so I cannot tell if all the little pieces are here, but I don't see anything missing. These are remarkable, intricate, and attractive constructs. Some mild foxing. On each facing page, numbered, are the names of the various parts and pieces of the machines. Text in French. A heavy set. This is an oversized book, so additional shipping will be needed for international or priority shipping, and perhaps even for media shipping in the US. Please email with questions or to request photos. If there is a photo beside this listing, please note that it was placed there by ABE without our permission and is likely what they call a 'stock photo' (whatever that is). This volume is part of a large collection of Aviation and Ballooning books, a catalogue of which is available upon request. Most of the volumes have a small pencil notation on the first blank page - the letters KB and a number. Many have Evelyn Kendall's signature as well.
