Lavishly illustrated with pen-and-ink drawings throughout, + 1 full color plate by Charles S. Robinson (though this is ripped, taped, & detached. Most (including the front pastedown) are by British illustrator John Hassell (1868-1948), with a few pen-and-ink sketches by a female British artist, H. G. C. (Helen Grace Culverwell) Marsh-Lambert (1888 - 1981). Small quarto (7.25" x 9.75") has light yellow cloth-covered boards with a colorful front paper pastedown, largely intact with some scrapes & small chips around edges. Unpaginated, appears complete, though 1 illustration is lying loose & can't be matched to inside text. Unique book is in Good condition with a tight binding and mostly clean crisp pages with some soiling and wear. Inside text is appears to have had little use and may well be unread. No writing in the book. This book includes the original black silhouette drawings from the original Childhood of Famous Americans books. This book also has the color end pieces of the famous American boys/men in this series. Outside cloth covers show some wear to include a ding to the front cover and the outside spine.
